TYPES OF PLANE GEOMETRY CONTINUES....

Hai friends!

The next types that we are discussing today is nothing but quadrilaterals.

QUADRILATERALS

They are four sided figures and two dimensional as said before. Any four figure sided figure is known as quadrilateral.
There are different shapes available in quadrilateral. The basic shapes are

  • square
  • rectangle
Actually squares and rectangles are the basic shapes that is taught in our lower classes. But they are not the first i.e they are developed from parallelogram.

Not to confuse I will clearly distinguish them. Actually quadrilaterals can be divided into two main types. They are
  • parallelogram ( opposite sides are equal as well as angles respectively)
  • trapezoid.( one pair of sides are parallel)
  • kite (two pairs of sides are equal it may be any two and diagonally opposite angles are equal)
Again they are divided into many sub-types not many but two only. They are
parallelogram
  • rectangle (opposite sides are equal in length and parallel as well as opposite angles are equal)
  • rhombus (all sides are equal in length and opposite angles are congruent)
  • then we have these two combined into square (opposite sides are equal and all angles are equal)
further we have trapezoid and they are
  • right trapezoid ( only one pair of sides are parallel and have one right angle)
  • isosceles trapezoid (only one pair of sides are parallel and have one paor of two equal sides in length.)
and in final the kite which has only one type
  • right kite.( in complex words it forms a circumcircle)
The image that had been taken from give a perfect picture of classification of quadrilaterals.

Then bye friends.
Next day we will see polygons in detail
